Making change through movement in Saudi Arabia

In his medical practice and personal sport endeavors, Rakan is committed to accomplishing one mission: to make perceived weaknesses powerful. Throughout his career, Rakan has used his medical expertise to achieve improved health conditions for Saudi Arabian communities. He currently works as a supervisor for inpatient physical therapy services at Diriyah Hospital and a senior sports physical therapist at the Saudi Olympic Training Center. Rakan often uses his platform to serve his community and volunteers his time to educate others about the power of sports to change lives.

At the GSMP, Rakan hopes to learn about the ways that other leaders around the world are leveraging sports to change the narrative about persons with disabilities from one of perceived weakness to one of strength.

Rakan is mentored by Peggy Turner, Adapted Sports Coordinator at TIRR Memorial Hermann.
