Wheelchair Basketball Player Is Ready to Help Others Take Their Shot

Javed is a professional wheelchair basketball player from a humble family of farmers and milkmen in Maharashtra’s Buldhana district of India. He is an above-knee amputee who lost his leg in a road accident in 2015. After his accident, Javed began playing wheelchair basketball and ever since he held a basketball for the first time, has been a dedicated team player. Over the last seven years, he has won consecutive gold medals in the past two national tournaments and has represented India internationally for the past five years. He was named the man of the match in 2019 at the national game representing the Maharashtra team. In 2022, at the first wheelchair basketball tournament held in India, where teams from nine countries participated, Javed won a Silver Medal. He has also represented his country at the Asia Oceania Zone Championship and Paralympics Qualifying tournament in 2019.

Javed aspires to be a highly competitive wheelchair basketball player representing his country internationally and working to increase the accessibility of wheelchair basketball for current players, persons with disabilities, and abled individuals.
