Ain’t No Mountain High Enough in Jordan

Can’t stop, won’t stop: that’s Jarah Hasan Mohammad Al-Hawamdeh, who continues to make history in his home country of Jordan. Outside of his day job as a customer service agent at Amazon International, Jarah works to conquer his next mountain peak as the country’s first mountain and rock climber with one leg, climbing peaks 5,000 meters or greater.

But Jarah also values teaching these sports to others, whether it be young men or women or people with disabilities. He understands that rock and mountain climbing can improve mental and physical health. By training others on how to enjoy these sports, Jarah strives to promote better health within his community.

Jarah hopes to understand more about a wide variety of cultures during the GSMP and learn how to develop sports for people with disabilities in Jordan. He also hopes to learn how to inspire others to participate in rock and mountain climbing so that everyone can enjoy the benefits of sports.

Jarah will be mentored by Robert Reed, Membership and Retail Manager at Ability 360.
