Championing Change: A Quest for Gender Equity in Brazil

Jane Moura is the Co-founder and President of Empodera, a Rio de Janeiro-based non-profit organization recognized by UN Women and the International Olympic Committee as a center of excellence in sports projects aimed at empowering girls and women and promoting gender equality. She also holds a degree in Physical Education and a master’s in Sociology.

Over the past eight years, Jane has been instrumental in developing safe and inclusive sports programs for girls, focusing on creating girl-centered projects that address vulnerability and promote diversity. Her work emphasizes gender and racial inclusion, leveraging sports as a powerful tool for empowerment.

Jane’s mission is to use sports to empower Brazilian girls and women, particularly those in vulnerable situations such as black and peripheral women. She is dedicated to helping them realize their full potential and rights, ensuring they can occupy social spaces on equal terms and become protagonists of their own stories.

Through Empodera, Jane continues to drive impactful change, fostering environments where girls and women can thrive both in sports and beyond.
