Cultivating Sport Excellence: Sports Manager paves the way for Women in India

Specializing in international relations, coordination, event management, and communications, Kajiiloni Krichena is an enthusiastic sports professional from India who is committed to enhancing sports excellence in her country and around the world. After graduating from the prestigious Seoul National University in South Korea with a Master’s degree in Global Sports Management, Kajiiloni was equipped with a comprehensive skill set which has enabled her to meaningfully contribute to the global sports scene.

Over the last nine years, Kajiiloni has served in leadership roles at several significant sporting events, including the South Asian Games in 2016, the Asian Athletic Championships in 2017, and the IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in 2018. In 2023, Kajiiloni returned to the World Boxing Championships and also assisted with coordinating the AFC Women’s Asian Cup and the South Asian Cross Country Championships. With a host of experiences in global sports management, Kajiiloni represented her country at the Northeast Olympic Games and the Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games.

These opportunities continue to motivate Kajiiloni to advocate for the enhancement of sports excellence in India within her current role as a Sports Operations Manager at the Nagaland Olympic Association. Kajiiloni returned to Nagaland in 2022 with a resolute mission: to inspire connection and to serve as a beacon for sports as a viable career option for women in India.

At the GSMP, Kajiiloni is looking forward to receiving guidance from skilled mentors and professionals with extensive experience and understanding of practical ways to empower women through sport. Following their leadership, Kajiiloni hopes to launch an action plan with meaningful and lasting impact.

Monica spent her career providing strategic and management consulting for high-profile individuals and institutions, including the White House, national advocacy organizations, and candidates for federal office. Monica has been a top strategist to the Vice President, CEOs, Corporations, Board of Directors, and campaigns and issue-based organizations on matters of management, strategic communications, and public affairs.

Those who Monica has advised include the Clinton White House, where she served as Deputy Chief of Staff to Vice President Al Gore and as an Assistant to the President; the U.S. House Democratic Caucus, for which she served as Chief of Staff; as a Strategic Consultant to the Senate Democratic Leadership, as a Voter Communication’s Director of the leadership political committee; Americans Coming Together, a national advocacy group; and for Forward Together, a committee chaired by Senator Mark Warner, for which she was Executive Director. Previously, Monica served as COO of Washington 2024, the local effort to bring the 2024 Summer Olympic Games to the nation’s capital.

Monica serves as the Co-Chair of the Local Advisory Board of College Track, an organization supporting first generation students with limited resources chart their course to and through college. Monica is a trustee of Martha’s Table, a community led organization providing national accredited education programs, healthy food access and physical and mental health services. Monica serves on the Board of the Shakespeare Theatre Company, the DC Policy Board, the Downtown BID and as an Advisor to One Village, a platform for informing and inspiring cancer patients by democratizing access to community and services. Most recently, Monica joined the board of Emily’s List with a mission of electing Democratic pro-choice women. She is the past Chair of CARE Action Board. CARE is a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty.

Politico named Monica “one of the most experienced independent operatives” in Washington. Sports Business Journal named her as a sports industry “Game Changer” in 2021.
