GSMP Mentor Profile: Laurel Richie, WNBA

September 27, 2014

“To me it’s hard to argue with [the way sports empowers women]… we know the impact that engaging in sports can have on women and girls and we know the impact women and girls have on society, ” said Laurel Richie, President of the WNBA, based in New York City.

This is Richie’s second year as a Mentor in the Global Sports Mentoring Program. Last year, she mentored Karo Lelai from Papua New Guinea.

“I think there is also a responsibility on those who have benefitted from it to speak about it and support it,” she said.

This year, Richie will mentor Belia Zibowa from Zimbabwe. Read more about Belia here.
