People Power for Good in Saudi Arabia
As the CEO of Al-Ettifaq Sports Club in Saudi Arabia, Hamad Abdullah Al-mutawa strives to ensure his club includes everyone, especially underrepresented communities. Hamad seeks to send a message of acceptance and social responsibility through a commitment to excellence and sustainable success in sports. He established a female soccer team as part of the Saudi Vision 2030 focus on diversity and inclusion in sports, empowering women to participate and excel in a male-dominated field while promoting gender equality and shattering social barriers.
Hamad now wants to build a team for people with disabilities at his club, further maximizing his impact for Saudi Vision 2030. He hopes that in doing so, he can help eliminate the stigmas and discrimination surrounding people with disabilities while also helping build an effective environment for them to thrive.
By attending the GSMP, Hamad hopes that he can further create sustainable programming and organizational structures to benefit Ettifaq Sport Club. He looks forward to developing a global network of contacts within the sports community, including mentors, peers, and industry professionals. He believes these connections will help him develop a global perspective. He is also eager to gain more leadership skills, marketing and event planning knowledge, and an overall understanding of how to provide professional development opportunities to members of the Ettifaq Sport Club.
Hamad will be mentored by Matthew Olson, Executive Director at USTA Southern.
